Get involved in the 2024 Installer Representatives Elections!
Understanding the role of the IRP
The main purpose of the Installer Representative Panel (IRP) is to help facilitate communications between the three groups that make up the IRP. Registered Gas Installers (RGIs), the Gas Safety Supervisory Body (GSSB) and the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) and to inform decision-making of the GSSB. As the 2024 elections for the Registered Gas Installer (RGI) Representatives on the IRP draws near, it is essential to emphasise the importance of industry representation and the significant role each Registered Gas Installer plays in shaping the future of their industry.
This election cycle is particularly significant as it marks the first electoral process following the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the term of the current RGI representatives was extended for 18 months.
Why representation matters?
The RGIs’ elected representatives on the Panel play an important role in facilitating communication between RGIs, the Gas Safety Supervisory Body (GSSB), and the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU). By fostering dialogue and informing decision-making processes, RGIs’ elected representatives on the IRP serve as key stakeholders.
The Registered Gas Installer involvement
As the electoral process unfolds, the RGIs active engagement is fundamental. Whether by nominating themselves as a candidate or supporting other nominees, the participation ensures that the elected representatives comprise individuals who are committed to help facilitate communications between RGIs, the GSSB and the CRU and to inform decision-making of the GSSB. The call for nominations will take place on March 22nd, 2024 and we will contact you again on that date to explain the process in more detail and outline the next steps.
Digital election
The 2024 elections will be conducted online. It is imperative that all RGIs ensure their contact information, particularly email addresses, is up to date on our systems. This will facilitate seamless communication and enable full participation in the electoral process.
