The new Gas Works Regulations were enacted on Friday 26 June in conformance with the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) Criteria Document of July 2008. Click here to see S.I.No.225 of 2009 Electricity Regulation Act 1999 (Gas Works) Regulations 2009 and CER related documents.
It is now an offence for a person to carry out domestic gas works such as installation, commissioning and/or service works unless he/she is registered with RGII. Any non registered gas installer planning to carry out gas works should contact RGII immediately to apply for registration, if not already done so.
There are currently over 1,800 registered gas installers who are listed on the RGII web site under their trading name, either as Sole Trader or Company. If looking for an installer go to the Find an Installer page.
Some installers are not yet shown on the RGII web site as not having completed their registration which requires:
- Payment of the registration fee
- Payment of the half annual subscription fee
- Valid insurance
- Evidence of qualification
When all above has been received, a full registration pack will be sent to the installer.
Please note that all gas works require the completion of a valid certificate which can be purchased from RGII. Click here for details on the available certificates.
